Rome — During a high-level official visit, a Romanian representative met with Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and further expanding the already robust Strategic Partnership between Romania and Italy.

The meeting included an in-depth discussion on key bilateral and European issues. Both leaders emphasized that Romania–Italy relations are advancing rapidly not only at the diplomatic level but also in the economic, social, and security spheres.

Key Points of Discussion

Enhancing Economic Cooperation: Both sides agreed to boost investment and joint projects in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, defense, and ICT technologies.
Strengthening Social Ties: Recognizing the significant Romanian community living in Italy, the two officials decided to expand people-to-people connections and societal links.
Preparations for the 2026 Cultural Year: Discussions included joint activities and programs for the Romania–Italy Cultural Year 2026.
EU-Related Matters: The two sides reviewed coordinated strategies for the future EU Multiannual Financial Framework, enhancing Europe’s competitiveness, and advancing the EU enlargement process.
Security and Countering Disinformation: The meeting highlighted cooperation against hybrid threats and campaigns spreading false information.
Regional Cooperation: Agreement was reached on continued support for Moldova and joint efforts for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.
Romania’s Upcoming Presidency of the Central European Initiative: Special focus was placed on strengthening connectivity, economic integration, and engagement of local administrations and communities.

This meeting reflects the growing mutual trust between Romania and Italy and their shared commitment to regional stability and cooperation.
