The Pakistan EPS Center, led by Director Kim Ki-wook, has issued guidance for Pakistani workers who were employed in South Korea under the Employment Permit System (E-9) and have since returned home after completing their maximum stay of up to 4 years and 10 months.

The center is assisting workers in claiming unpaid departure guarantee insurance and return cost insurance, which in some cases have remained unclaimed and become classified as “dormant insurance.”

Dormant insurance refers to funds that remain with the insurer if the beneficiary does not claim them within three years of eligibility. These funds typically include severance pay and return travel expenses that were meant to be collected at the end of employment in Korea.

Many eligible workers have not yet applied for these funds, often due to outdated or missing contact information, making individual outreach difficult. To address this issue, the EPS Center, in cooperation with Pakistan’s Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC), has published the list of unclaimed cases on the OEC website.

Returning workers can check the OEC website to confirm their eligibility. Those found eligible must apply through the Pakistan EPS Center by sending the required documents via registered mail as outlined on the website.

Additionally, workers who have only recently returned from Korea without claiming their departure guarantee insurance or return cost insurance may apply directly to Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance by following the official procedures and submitting the necessary documents. Assistance is also available through the Pakistan EPS Center.
