Built on the pillars of Environmental, Social, Governance, and Economic Sustainability (EESG), the initiative offers a comprehensive roadmap for achieving its overarching goals. A Vision for a Better Tomorrow: At the heart of the Clean Sri Lanka Project lies its inspiring vision: "Beautiful Island, Smiling People" This vision mirrors the aspiration of the nation to achieve an auspicious, grime-free physical space in perfect synchrony with a morally upright and content society. This is supplemented by a mission to reimagine environmental, social, and governance initiatives through innovation, integration, and collaboration. The mission is therefore a call to action for collective entrepreneurship to combine the efforts of individuals, communities, and institutions to build a sustainable future. The Strategic Framework: Four Pillars of Sustainability: The Clean Sri Lanka Project is founded on a sustainable framework of Environmental, Social, Governance, and Economic Sustainability. The four pillars form a structured change with defined goals, timelines, and outcomes. 1. Environmental Sustainability: The rich ecosystems and natural beauty are part of the country's identity, but it faces severe threats from pollution, deforestation, and climate change. This pillar deals with environmental protection by: Waste Management: Developing modern systems for waste collection, segregation, and recycling to mitigate urban and rural pollution. Energy Conservation: Shift towards renewable sources of energy like solar and wind to reduce fossil fuel dependence. Water and Biodiversity: Water body protection, reduction in plastic pollution, and preservation of Sri Lanka's unique biodiversity. Health: The project first recognizes the nexus between a healthy environment and human health, putting emphasis on clean water, safe sanitation, and elimination of exposure to harmful pollutants. Inclusion: Involvement of all citizens, women, children, and the elderly among others, making sure that in the benefits achieved through sustainability. Through the above aspects, the project develops a society to live healthily and inclusively. 3. Governance Sustainability: Any effective undertaking has strong governance as its foundation. This pillar pushes for ethics and integrity, anchored on encouraging citizens to live by ethical principles on a daily basis and in institution decision-making. It similarly promotes policy transparency and openness from government stances to secure the trust of the stakeholders involved. Finally, policy reforms that uphold changes geared toward meeting global best practices in sustainability and environment protection become essential. Flagship Events and Activities: To bring the vision of the Clean Sri Lanka Project to life, several high-impact activities have been planned: Colombo Clean-Up Day One of the flagship events of the project is Colombo Clean-Up Day, which encourages volunteers from all walks of life to clean streets, parks, and waterways in the capital. This event is aimed at inspiring civic pride and demonstrating the importance of collective action in maintaining urban cleanliness and sustainability. Green Living Workshop This is a hands-on workshop on the practical knowledge to reduce carbon footprints, to adopt green practices, and to introduce eco-friendly alternatives into daily life. The simple ways to live sustainably that can be learned here include composting, using renewable energy, and reducing waste. A Call to Action for the Entire Nation: The Clean Sri Lanka Project is not just a government initiative but also a call to action for all citizens. Success Measurement: Results and Milestones: The implementation project has proposed certain goals in order to obtain measurable results of success. As for example - Reduce urban waste to 25% in two years. - Increase contribution of renewable energy to the national grid to 40% in 2030. - Establishment of 1,000 green jobs within five years.
